You’ve likely received this error: “Matchmaking failed – VAC could not verify your game session” We have some good news and even more for you. The good news is: The good news? The better information. In 2019, there’s an easy solution!
It works for approximately 95% of people, so it is likely to work and fix your problem. We have other solutions in case it doesn’t work.
Fix #1: Verify the integrity of game files and restart your computer
This fix can be done by opening Steam, going to Library, clicking Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and then clicking “Properties.”
After opening the properties window, go to “Local Files” and click “Verify Integrity Of Game Files.”
After this is complete, restart the computer.
Once you’ve completed the above, your CSGO should work fine, and the “Matchmaking failed – VAC could not verify your game session error” error should disappear. Continue reading Fix #2 below if it continues to occur.
Repair the Steam Service
Repairing the Steam service is recommended by Valve here. To do this, all you need to do is:
Close Steam. Click “Exit” by right-clicking Steam in the System Tray (bottom left-hand corner).
Open your Start Menu and search for “Run.” Then, open the file titled “Run.”
Type the following in the text box and press “OK.”
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair
The terminal should now appear empty. Wait for the terminal to close, then re-open Steam. Your issue should now be resolved.
If your error isn’t fixed, continue reading for Fix #3.
Solution #3: Reinstall Completely CS: GO
If the two fixes outlined above have yet to work, your issue is likely one that won’t be resolved by changing a setting or restarting your computer. While we recommend you search the web to see if anything else works for you, chances are you’re saving time by reinstalling CS: GO. Reinstalling the game will fix the issue quickly and save you from having to try lots of different fixes (that probably won’t work).
To reinstall CSGO completly, visit your Steam Library, click on “Counter-Strike Global Offensive,” and then click “Uninstall.”
You will then need to reinstall CS.GO. You can do this at https://store.steampowered.com/app/730/CounterStrike_Global_Offensive/. After reinstalling CS. You should fix the “Matchmaking Failed – VAC could not verify your game session.”
